Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge had big shoes to fill. Pirates was more successful than any other adult film has been in over 30 years. With 40 international awards and 14 AVN Awards it was so well received it was released with an R-rating WITHOUT the explicit sex and sold on Netflix!

Pirates II follows in its predecessor’s large footsteps with interesting characters, a cohesive plot and special effects that are unheard of in the adult industry. And thanks to leaps made over the last few years in digital film making, Pirates II has even better special effects than the first Pirating romp.

The writing and character development makes this one of the most coveted porn movies ever made. The acting is fair overall, but damn good in some cases. Evan Stone shines brightly in every scene as he portrays a wonderfully complex and lovable, albeit bumbling, captain Edward Reynolds, who simultaneously believes himself to be “... a mighty warship of destruction” AND “...a fraud. And everybody knows it”.   He expresses both of these sides to Jules (Jesse Jane) his closest friend who props him up and helps lead him to victory whenever he needs it. Whatever the truth, he pulls both of those aspects of his personality off in a believable and likable character all the while treating women with the utmost respect.

The male characters in both Pirates films stand out for their vulnerability. Shockingly opposite to the hyper-masculine “guys” we normal encounter in porn. When Jules finds herself under a spell from an evil empress, given the orders to seduce her friend and change the terms of their platonic relationship, Edward reacts by stating, “This is highly inappropriate behavior...A commander should never be inside his first officer for any reason”.   His one-liners made us chuckle in the first Pirates. In this one I found myself bursting out with laughter.

All the minor characters return except for Janine who is missed (although they make frequent mention of her plot-line from the first installment). The addition of Katsumi, Belladonna, and Sasha Grey add their own charms to the feature.

The sex is beautifully shot, just like the first, and the sex scenes are equally as passionate, if not more energetic. As a result the sex is a little rougher than the first Pirates, but the roughness is mostly between the women. The sex is less romantic, but still hot and passionate.

Honestly, I can't wait to see where they take these characters in a third installment. It's a worthy follow-up in every way to its predecessor, and you're missing out until you've see it. The Pirates series is becoming a piece of history.
